Therapy101 / People

About this site

Scope

This site is an educational reference on 90 practitioners, theorists, couple and family pioneers and researchers in the history of psychotherapy and counselling. Each profile covers historical context, contributions, practice, common misreadings and critiques. It is part of the wider Therapy101 family.

The 90 profiles are a selection, not a complete list. Many people who shaped the field are missing, and the selection reflects the editorial choices of this draft. Dates and institutions differ by country, and where a statement applies to one country only, the profile should say so.

What this site does not do

It does not diagnose, recommend a treatment, match people with therapists or offer crisis support. Descriptions of a person’s methods are historical and educational. They are not instructions or advice for a particular person. The site makes no claims that one approach or practitioner works better than another.

If you are in distress, contact a health professional or your local emergency or crisis service.

Review status

This is an educational draft. No profile has yet been reviewed by a qualified subject specialist. The records contain earlier source-status labels, but do not document dated source checks for this draft. Each profile identifies that limitation.

How sources are treated

Sources are listed as recorded in each profile. Most are bibliographic citations without a web address. Their relevance to the statements in the profiles has not been documented through dated checks for this draft. See the sources page. Dates, quotations and clinical statements need independent checking before any use beyond reading.

The related links on each profile point to entries on the Approaches and Timeline sites. They appear only where the identifier matches an existing entry. For Timeline, a link is made only when the entry year matches a listed work of the person, the entry names that work and the entry mentions the person.
